Wolf’s Return was given to me for an honest review by Manic Readers
Drew returns home after receiving a text informing him his sadistic ass of father is dyeing by poisoning. What he finds when he get home is a practically decimated pack and a mate who wishes he was dead. He has a huge list of things to do:
1) Challenge his father for leadership
2) Reclaim Betty
3) Rebuild his home
4) Save what is left of his pack and recall those that have left.
The list is daunting and Betty may take longer to win back than the rebuilding of the pack they both love.
Given how far behind I am on my reading I am truly surprised that I got Wolf’s Return done on time, even with it being as short as it is and the fact is took me two and half days to read a book that would normally take me half a day to complete. Then there was the fact that I had opened Wolf’s Return twice since I got it and then closed it after the first two pages. Please, don’t think I didn’t like the book because I did like it but I had a hard time getting into it. I think I expected more intensity and tension in the characters, especially Ryker and Drew, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I think the story between Drew and Betty could have been longer because I sensed there was more to tell but Rebecca Royce seemed rushed in telling the couples story, at least it seemed that way with all the missing words. Yep that’s right; I would be reading along and BAMB!!! a missing word.
I want to give Wolf’s Return a four star review because it has the potential to be a great book if Miss Rebecca ever edits and expands the story line. But with all the missing words I am going to have to with a three star review.
Book Cover Rating
The cover is kind of cool in that it makes Wolf’s Return seem more ominous than it really is.
Book’s Blurb
A hidden wolf pack. Lies. Intrigue. And reluctant heroes. Get to know the Black Hills…
Drew Tao left the Black Hills in disgrace, banished by his father. He has spent the last ten years a lone wolf, living on his own. Called back home, he finally gets the chance to set things right. If such a thing is possible….
Betty Holden has hated her mate every day for the last ten years for abandoning her and their pack. She’s been running things in Los Lobos, and she has no intention of letting Drew Tao slip back into her life like nothing has changed-even if she has never been able to resist him.
Can there be forgiveness? And can he protect her when another enemy arrives?
