Between Central Park and the East River sits an apartment building as tall as a castle and as orange as a sunset. The Wellraven barely pricks a skyline so grand, but its curious history reaches out through occupants, young and old.

Eleven stories chronicle the life and times of characters who cross paths and share destiny’s fire escape. Ghosts, gravity, romance, and secrets weave the communal narrative.

Step into the elevator. Push any button, but try to remember your way back out. Not everybody makes it.

Proceeds from this limited edition anthology will benefit VETSports, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Veterans with continuous opportunities to reintegrate into their communities through sports, community service, events, and partnerships.

And It Begins

I had thought about this in my head for sometime and kept putting it off because I knew that if I started this one, I would wouldn’t be sleeping and there for not driving for a few days. Now it’s Veterans Day weekend and I am missing Shanny so much that I just can’t put it off any longer. She should be here either still serving her country or home enjoying a weekend of appreciation the Veterans should actually be getting daily, not just one weekend a year. Weekend that many people take as a license to party leaving me wonder how many people died like Shanny did this weekend.

With election day over and the harassment from Politian’s tapering off I want to say I am deeply disappointed in many of the outcomes from this election. We won’t discuss my disappointment my disappointment in the fact we are stuck with a democratic tampon in the Governors spot, thanks to the twitterpated voters of Multnomah County. No, I am angry that so much focus is put on gun control but not on stopping DUII crashes. People have been murdered daily by DUII drivers and yet the only thing the Politian’s can focus on is gun control. That is so hypocritical, you can’t say you care about human lives when it comes to guns and not deal with the other.

2022 is almost over and I am feeling disheartened by how little I seem to have accomplished in the goal I set last April at the DUII Conference. I had learned so much and came to the conclusion that I want to do victim impacts statements for school bus drivers and other CDL holders. We not exempt from making bad choices and they should be required to listen to victim impact statements. Before you ask why I will tell you. If a CDL driver makes a mistake or a bad decision while in their commercial vehicle someone can and/or will die. In the case of a school bus driver not only will somebody out side the bus be seriously injured/killed but the children on the bus could be injured. It is hard enough for School bus drivers to do their jobs with all those distractions the transporting up to 50 kids can bring throw in driving impaired and you have a potential major disaster on your hands. Having victim impact panels going in and talking with CDL drivers and saying “HEY YOU ARE NOT EXEMPT FROM THE RULES” could not only save a life but prevent a Commercial Driver losing their CDL privileges.

I called several truck driving schools and nothing, one actually told me they don’t have issues with impaired drivers, well of course not they are in school not on the road yet. One school said they would discuss it and get back to me and nothing. It is very discouraging to think that they seem to not put much value on what could happen after their drivers leave their schools. As trainers you would think they would want to protect their reputations, because if it is anything like school bus training that reputation could be called into question anytime something goes wrong, it why when I was train new school bus drivers, I made sure to be as thorough as possible, the last thing I wanted was for someone to ask me why I didn’t cover something in training.

My regional manager gave me the go ahead to put something together for maybe a start up meeting but that it had to be a one-person thing because of proprietary considerations. Which sucked because there are people that could come and add something that I don’t know. When I sent him my power point of what I had done so far for feedback he never responded and that is just plain wrong given what we do and how many CDL drivers are violating the standards we all work by. You can’t tell that it doesn’t matter or that it isn’t important when it clearly is. Especially when you bounce back to the whole reputation thought process. School bus companies base their reputations on students first and safety. Having drivers getting DUII’s whether it is in their own vehicle or a bus can damage the reputation of the company, it will have people questioning the hiring policies and background checks. Being proactive with training about driving impaired, doing victim impacts and information what substance cause impairment could potentially reduce the risks and save lives.

You also can’t tell me that gun control is more important than stopping impaired drivers, really why is death by gun more important than death by impaired driver, both are equally traumatic and brutal but why is one more focused on then other, why do people care so little for those murdered by impaired drivers, shoot, even the impaired driver doesn’t care that they killed someone, they don’t own what they did and try to get out of any punishment that they rightfully deserve. The victims and survivors of impaired drivers are further victimized and harassed for even wanting justice for what was done.

I am feeling pretty discouraged about I how little progress I have made but there is a bright spot that will keep me pushing along. A Carlton City Council member (up for re-election) came to my door, with another person looking for write in votes and I told her I was frustrated with something going on in our area and ready to go to a council meeting and do a victim impact statement there and point out that our police officers would be better off looking for impaired drivers then harassing local citizens about what is parked in front of their homes because of some pathetic outdated complaint-based ordinance.  The council member thought it was a great idea for me to do come to a meeting and give my impact statement. It gave me hope that something good could still happen, that is if they let me say what I need to say. I guess we will just have to wait and hope, but it will also be a start.

Kelly and Blade have been trying to have a baby with unsuccessful result until recently, but complications arise that put mom and baby in jeopardy. Blade doesn’t that Kelly can handle their life style anymore and just like in the beginning of their relationship (see book 2 of the original series) he makes decisions and choices without even comminating with her. I guess some people never learn, lol.

I felt like Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly was a more detailed book then Desire for Three: Winning Back Jesse. Not only was Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly longer it also included several other characters from the original series, Desire, Oklahoma which was nice. The addition of other main characters fills out the story line, making it a well-rounded story that covers a lot ground as well as maintains continuity between Blade’s Desire and Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly.

Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly was basically well written, I didn’t find any editing issues as I read which I was excited about, although, my husband might beg to differ because I was up late reading this story. I lost track of time because there were no edits to act as speed bumps to slow down the progress of my reading, kind of like this review (it’s currently 1:27 am). The continuity between this book and its predecessor is fantastic, plus, I like the story line which makes giving Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly 4 stars an easy decision.

Heat
Given the story line the bedroom scenes were reasonably muted but picked a bit near the end but still not a steamy as one would expect from a Leah Brooke story.

Book Cover
I am a big fan of continuity when come to series and apparently that includes book covers (who knew? Not me, until now). After looking at the cover for Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly then looking at the cover for Blade’s Desire I felt like the covers lack continuity but that falls on the publishers for using dissimilar models for the cover of Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly. Now on the flip side of that I do like the cover for Blade’s Desire: Adoring Kelly better then the cover for its predecessor Blade’s Desire which was bland and unappealing.

Blurb Rating
Blurbs are a great thing when not being used to tell practically the whole story before the reader actually dives into the actually story, just saying, less is more.

Book’s Blurb
Kelly Royal has learned the pleasure of submitting under her husband’s gentle, but firm, hand, but Blade’s interest in dominating her seems to be gone forever. Going into labor a month early scared the hell out of her, and despite Blade’s efforts, he couldn’t hide his own fear—especially when things go terribly wrong.

Unable to forget the image of her pale and unmoving form in the hospital bed, Blade can’t even imagine taking her back into his playroom, and as soon as he brings her home from the hospital, he empties the room, vowing to never dominate her again. His fragile wife has been through enough, and he can’t imagine taking her the way he did before.

Kelly, though, has other plans. She wants her husband back, and frustrated that he thwarts her attempts to take her the way he did before, she takes matters into her own hands.

Read Chapter 1:

Lucy

Look at those poor babies.
They can’t be more than a week old but won’t last much longer if I don’t intervene. Their mother isn’t looking any better.
I got the call earlier this afternoon and wish I’d been able to wait for a deputy to follow me, but potential cases of animal abuse aren’t very high on their list of priorities. The woman who called insisted the situation was dire, and she’s right.
“Hey! You!”
Oh shit.
A rough-looking, burly guy is coming around the corner of the dilapidated farmhouse, about fifty yards from where I’m crouched next to the pen. He has a shotgun in his hands and it’s aimed at me.
“You’ve got two seconds to get off my property,” he yells, looking pissed.
This kind of rescue work isn’t without its occasional challenges and dangers. It isn’t the first time I’ve looked down the barrel of a gun held by some disgruntled farmer or rancher when they didn’t appreciate my rescue of their abused animal. Still, it never fails to scare the crap out of me.
I don’t like guns. I’ve never been comfortable around them, although I will say I won’t hesitate to grab the shotgun we have by the front door at the rescue when facing anyone who threatens our safety or the safety of the animals. Too much has happened here over the past two years since we moved from Billings.
We, being Alexandra Hart and myself. I’ve worked for Alex for over eight years now. I joined her when Hart’s Horse Rescue was on a much, much smaller property, just outside Billings, Montana. Then, two years ago, she purchased the property near Libby and I happily followed her here. Of course, since then, she’s met and moved in with Jonas Harvey at the High Meadow Ranch, just down the road.
At the rescue we don’t only provide a safe haven for the animals, but also rehabilitate injured and traumatized animals. Alex is something of a horse whisperer and has a special affinity with the animals I lack. Don’t get me wrong, I’m good with the horses—all the animals—but they certainly don’t respond to me the way they do to Alex.
Anyway, these days it’s just me and the animals at the rescue, where I look after the day-to-day operations. Not a bad gig, not at all. I have a job I love; I have a roof over my head, and I live in what has to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Not that I’ve traveled much. I’m about the farthest away from where I grew up right now, although staring down a barrel is familiar.
According to Lester Franklin’s neighbor, he leaves for work every day at the same time and doesn’t return home until late afternoon. I’d parked on the neighbor’s property and was supposed to wait for a sheriff’s deputy to show, when I saw him drive off and came to investigate. I didn’t want to miss the opportunity, so I went in without backup. Hindsight being twenty-twenty, that had not been my smartest move.
Today being the exception to the rule, he obviously returned early and isn’t happy finding me here.
I lift my hands up to show him I’m not armed.
“Your kid goats need to be supplement-fed or they’re gonna die,” I yell back.
“None ‘a your goddamn business what I do with my goats. Yer trespassing!”
He racks his shotgun and repositions it against his shoulder, lining me up in his sights. The sound of it is a bit unnerving, but I know that’s what he intends; to scare me off.
“Look, if you’re happy to let them die, why not just give them to me to look after?”
The shotgun blast is loud as the dirt in front of me sprays up. I’m down on my face the next second. Guess he wasn’t just trying to scare me. I vaguely notice a stinging burn on my shin but my eyes are locked on Lester Franklin, who appears to be cocking his gun, readying it for another shot.
“Hey! Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department. Put that damn shotgun down!”
I turn my head slightly to where a fresh-faced sheriff’s deputy is standing, legs spread wide and her hand on the butt of her service weapon. Sloane Eckhart. She’s the niece of my friend Pippa’s husband, Sully, and brand-new to the department. So new, I can still see the creases on her uniform shirt.
“I have every right to defend my property! She’s an intruder.”
“That’s where you’re wrong, Mr. Franklin,” Sloane fires back right away. “She’s at worst a trespasser and if you shoot at her you’re the one who’s gonna be going to jail! Now, I’m gonna ask you one more time; put the shotgun down!”
Despite my rather precarious position, I grin at the girl’s attitude. Hell, she’s probably early twenties, looks more like a child playing dress-up than an actual sheriff’s deputy, but she’s sure not easily intimidated.
“What are you gonna do about it?” Franklin challenges her.
Slow and easy, she slips her weapon in her hand, widens her stance, and aims straight at him.
“I outshot the entire department in an accuracy test two weeks ago,” she says calmly. “Want to test me?”
For a few seconds, it looks like we might have a shootout when the guy pans his aim toward Sloane, but at the last moment lowers the barrel.
I get to my feet and notice my lower leg still burning. The front of my jeans on the left side is wet and stained dark. Wonderful.
“Were you hit?”
Sloane walks over, her eyes zoomed in on my leg.
“Just some rock spray hitting me, I think. Just a scratch.”
I don’t want her distracted, I want her to control Lester while I collect these poor goats.
“Right,” she says, giving me a hard look before she walks to her cruiser, the driver’s side door still open. “Gonna call some backup. Looks like we need Animal Control out here too.”
While Sloane puts in her calls, I pull up the leg of my jeans as I try to keep an eye on Franklin, who continues to hover in front of his house. My leg is a mess. It’s difficult to see anything, but I look to be bleeding from more than one source.
“Yikes,” Sloane comments, walking up. “Maybe I should’ve called the EMTs as well. That doesn’t look good.”

Bo

“Can you hand me the wrench?”
I dig through the toolbox and give James the requested tool.
We’re out behind the ranch house, in the shed where the pump running the automated watering system is housed. The system provides water to the horses out in the fields closest to the house. There are only a few of the back meadows left to cart water to, but if we can’t get this damn pump to work, we’re gonna be back to hauling it everywhere.
It’s a time suck and a general pain-in-the-ass job no one wants to do, which is why we’re back here trying to fix it, even though neither James nor I are particularly talented in mechanics.
“Why don’t I go ask Pippa to come have a look?” I suggest when James releases a few juicy curse words.
Pippa is married to Sully, another member of our team, and she’s a mechanic. They live in one of the cabins on the other side of the ranch house and just welcomed a new baby two weeks ago, so she’s home.
“I’m sure she’s got other things going on,” James mutters.
“Are you kidding? If it was up to her, she would’ve strapped that baby to her body and already be back at the garage working.”
It’s true, I walked in on an argument about exactly that topic between her and Sully just yesterday. Pippa is itching to do something with her hands, while her husband feels she needs more time to recover.
He’s just worried about her, being protective, and she’s afraid to lose autonomy over her life with the new baby and relatively new husband. The fear-driven dynamics are clear to see from an observer’s point of view, but I guess even a couple of weeks of sleepless nights, constant feedings, and endless diapers can make you lose perspective.
Pippa is a rock and I have no doubt she’ll jump at the opportunity to get out of the house for a bit. Sully’s back to work and manning the breeding barn with Fletch today, but there are many at the ranch who’d drop anything to keep an eye on that baby girl for a few minutes.
Poor kid was born into one of the strangest families I’ve ever known, with a whole bunch of uncles, aunts, an honorary grandfather, and a handful of cousins, of which only one aunt and one cousin are actually blood related. The ranch, High Meadow, is at the center of this haphazard family. Its owner, Jonas Harvey, was my commander in the armed forces. Jonas, Sully, Fletch, James, and I were part of a special ops tracking unit. Like me, Jonas came from a ranching background. When he aged out of the unit, he bought this place, pulling us in one by one as we each aged out.
High Meadow is a stud farm, but in recent years we’ve been developing our own breeding program as well. In addition to that, the ranch is also the base for High Mountain Trackers. We may all have been too old for Uncle Sam, but we’re still able to put our skills to good use with HMT, which is a search and rescue—or recovery—unit on horseback. We get a variety of calls, anywhere from missing children to hunting down criminals, and often work together with local and state law enforcement.
The ranch is our home, even though I’ve never lived here like most of my brothers. I have my reasons for choosing an old apartment in town over one of the staff cabins on the ranch, although there’ve been many times I wished things were different. That’s life though, you’ve just got to roll with it. I’m sure there’ll come a day I can wake up to beautiful views and sweet mountain air instead of the parking lot at the rear of the restaurant next door, but that day isn’t here yet.
There’s no one at the cabin, but I find Pippa and the baby in the kitchen at the main house. Carmi is being burped by Alex, Jonas’s woman, with his old man, Thomas, looking on. I bend down and give that little downy blond head a kiss.
“How’s my little girl?”
“She sure don’t look like yours,” Thomas pipes up, unable to resist a tease.
There were too many years I would’ve taken that the wrong way, especially coming from an old, white, Southern boy, but I know he would’ve said the same thing to Fletch, who is white but dark-haired. This isn’t about the color of my skin but the blond hair the baby inherited from her father.
“Hush, after her daddy, Bo gets dibs. He delivered her,” Pippa reminds the old man with a grin.
I did. Two weeks ago, at the horse rescue.
It wasn’t my first baby—before I joined the military I worked as a nurse in different departments—but it had been a few years, maybe even decades, since the last one. Luckily, the basic mechanics of childbirth stay the same and, other than the baby was coming fast, there were no complications.
“Hey, you got a minute?” I ask Pippa. “We can’t get the motor on the water pump to—”
I don’t even get a chance to finish my sentence before she jumps in.
“Yes. You don’t mind, do you, Alex?”
Alex makes a face as she snuggles the baby closer. “Like you need to ask.”
Pippa follows me outside where we almost bump into Sloane, Sully’s niece, who moved here over the summer. She’s a sheriff’s deputy.
“I was looking for you” she addresses Pippa. “Where’s the baby?”
“Kitchen.” Pippa cocks her thumb over her shoulder. “I swear,” she continues when Sloane rushes up the porch steps. “I’ve ceased to exist since she was born. Don’t get me wrong, I love my baby beyond measure, but it’s a little unsettling when I’m being treated like an extension of that little human instead of my own person.”
I hear her. Fuck, I’m guilty of it too, heading straight for Carmi without even a hello for her mother.
Throwing my arm around her shoulder, I give her a little squeeze.
“Good thing we have a busted water pump to remind us you’re not just good at making babies,” I tease.
“Haha,” she grumbles, elbowing me in the gut.
“Oh, Bo?” I hear Sloane call.
“Yeah, what’s up?” I ask, turning around.
She’s hanging over the porch railing.
“You may wanna swing by Lucy’s, when you have a minute.”
As always when I hear her name, my attention is piqued.
“Why?”
“She had a run-in with a rancher north of town. She didn’t want me calling EMTs, but I think she got hit with some buckshot.”
I don’t realize I’m already moving until I hear Pippa yell out behind me.
“Go!”

Kelly and Blade’s story actually begins Desire For Three as a background story but continues on in Blade’s Desire with Kelly wanting to move past her traumatic past. She knows she wants Blade but she doesn’t know how much Blade wants her and leads to some crossed wires in communication. Now that I am thinking about it the miscommunication is a result of some BDSM rule breaking. After reading a number of books with BDSM in the relationships, isn’t absolute honesty mandatory in such relationships? Seems to me that both Blade and Kelly should have been more open it would have saved Kelly a lot of heartache and Blade from making a complete mess of things as he made an ass of himself, lol.

Overall, Blade’s Desire is a well written and has many steamy fourplay and sex scenes and very few to no edits and a great story line but I do wish that there was more to the none bedroom storylines, like Simon going after Kelly. Even though I had something kind of negative to say I still feel that Blade’s Desire deserves 5 stars especially since this is not the first time I have been sucked into the story.

Heat
Blade’s Desire has steam rising off my tablet hot, once Kelly gets up the courage to go for it.

Book Cover
Honestly, I probably would have skipped over Blade’s Desire completely because the cover looked unappealing, if I had not already read Desire For Three.

Blurb Rating
The blurb is interesting and gives just enough information to give a taste of the story.

Book’s Blurb
Newcomer to Desire, Oklahoma, Kelly Jones wants to get over her past. Physically and mentally abused, she wants a new start. Falling in love with a self-proclaimed Dom, Kelly wonders if she isn’t in over her head.

But she underestimates Blade Royal’s patience.

Little by little she falls under his spell and soon her body burns with a need she knows only he can fulfill. Her body demands relief so she makes a bargain that has her putting her trust and her body in Blade’s hands for the next six weeks.

Kelly fights to hide her love from him, not knowing he’s already determined to make her his own. Blade knows she has hidden passions that are a perfect match for his own.

He only has to show them to her.

The Akseli
(Aldebarian Alliance #4)
by Dianne Duvall

Release Date: October 11th, 2022
New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the next stand-alone novel in a thrilling new sci-fi romance series full of action and humor.

Simone has hunted and slain psychotic vampires night after night for hundreds of years and desperately needs a change. When the leader of the Immortal Guardians offers her an opportunity to guard ten mortal women who are venturing to another planet, she dives right in and finds traveling into space and meeting amazing alien races just as exciting as she’d hoped… until an enemy attacks. Simone saves everyone she can before she’s thrust into an escape pod and the ship explodes. Alone, fearing some—if not all—of her friends have been killed, she vows to seek vengeance.

Despite his fierce reputation and propensity for violating the law, Janwar has formed a friendship with strait-laced Prince Taelon of Lasara. When the prince’s ship is destroyed, Janwar joins the massive Aldebarian Alliance-wide search and rescue mission and soon locates the Gathendien ship that launched the attack. An odd thing happens, however, as he and his crew stealthily approach it. The lifeforms inside begin to perish, two or three at a time in quick succession. Much to his surprise, someone else has reached the ship first: one of the very Earth women he hoped to rescue.

Fascinatingly fierce, Simone bands together with Janwar and his crew to search for her missing friends and wreak havoc upon those who wish to harm them. She also widens eyes, drops jaws, and sparks laughter and mischief as she banishes the warriors’ world-weariness and makes each day seem like a new adventure. The friendship that grows between Janwar and Simone swiftly deepens into love. But the enemy warriors they face are tenacious and boast more weapons in their arsenal than the alliance knows. Can Janwar, Simone, and such a small crew vanquish them?

Sherry’s co-worker goes behind her back and put her on a dating site, thought the thought behind it is malicious the outcome is positive. Usually when I try to give a small glimpse to what I have read I try my readers something of what I got from the story without giving anything away in the story but I feel like I didn’t succeed in that first sentence so I apologize. The story was so short the only the I could do was be as vague as possible, especially when the blurb pretty much gives the story away.

What there is of Lion’s Love is well written but way to short for the slow burn romance that it is. Most of the communication between the main characters is done through online chatting and barely even touched on and then skips straight to them meeting in person, the mating and the wedding with little to nothing in between. The really sad thing is there is a whole background story that starts with a arson fire that the author barely touched on almost like an afterthought, I wonder if it ties into the other books in the series.

I am going to give Lion’s Love 2 stars because what there is written well and I didn’t see any edits, but the story itself lacked substance and felt incomplete and disappointing.

Book Cover
I like the lion on the cover.

Blurb Rating
I think the blurb is almost as long as the story it self or at least long enough to be cliff notes to the whole story.

Book’s Blurb
Hungry lion meets shy BBW for a roaring good time!
All she’s ever wanted is to find the love of her life. BBW Sherry Cole dreams about the day she will find her true mate, marry and have kids but her natural shyness and a birthmark have eroded her confidence.

Some of her co-workers are mean girls who decide it would be fun to play with Sherry’s love life and they take matters into their own hands signing her up for the ‘Luscious Lads and Ladies Marriage Mates’ site. Luscious Lads and Ladies is a new marriage match site with a twist. All the men on the site are shifters from the rowdy town of Shifter Villages looking for their mate and all the women are looking for shifters in the town to mate with.

When Sherry finds out what her co-workers have done she is in shock. Will she use the opportunity to grab a chance at happiness or let the opportunity slip through her fingers?

Lion’s Love is a BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Romance. This is a standalone novella and the first story in the Confessions of a Mail Order Bride series. These paranormal romances can be read in any order. The story includes strong sexual themes and language.

Desire for Three: Winning Back Jesse is kind of like a fast pit stop to say to a friend because they are on the way to your actual destination. Jesse was insecure about the relationship to begin with after Clay and Rio threw her the curb in the original story so naturally, they should have saw Jesse running from a mile away. It really was very short and not much of a plot, woman confronts men, storms off and sneaks out window, men freak out and chase woman then bring her home, where they all talk then have steaming hot sex. Some of that sounds very cavemanish but there it is in a 65 page nut shell.

Was it worth the money and time? Well, it was nice to make a quick pit stop to visit old friends but it was not a long enough visit and more time would have been nice.

Book Cover
The is no other way to say this then THE COVER SUCKS. The female model clearly looks very young and what woman in her 40’s dresses like a 16-year-old, whose parents don’t pay attention to her, unless she is a cougar, which Jesse is not. She looks even younger than the female model Desire For Three. The publishers clearly didn’t read the story or they would use age-appropriate models, that fit the story line, for covers.

Blurb Rating
The blurb makes Desire for Three: Winning Back Jesse seem longer than it really is and thankfully doesn’t give away too many details even if it does give away the ending.

Book’s Blurb
Living in Desire, Oklahoma, and married to two incredible men, Jesse Erickson felt her world was perfect, until she walks through the door of her home one day and has her world turned upside down.

Shocked to the core, and with her world crumbling around her, she runs, too shaken to cope.

Clay and Rio Erickson hate keeping secrets from Jesse, but didn’t have a choice

They certainly hadn’t expected their wife to assume the worst and run.

With the help of a friend, they find her, only to face the horror of almost losing her again.

Scared and shaken, they get her home, still reeling from the thought of losing her. Determined to show her the power of their love won’t be easy, but they know just how to get their wife’s undivided attention.

Allowing their dominant sides to rule, they will plow through her insecurities once and for all.

I am one of those readers who reads every book in a series over again before reading the latest books in a series. It works very well if the series is one of your favorites and as it happens the Desire, Oklahoma series is one of my favorites and it’s always nice to revisit likable characters.

I am standing by my original review but changing the rating to 5 stars because I have read Desire for Three so many times that it is fair to say it is one of my favorites to read every time a new book came out. I am a bit behind in reading the series and looking forward to revisiting the books I have read as well as the new additions. To add this this series the is a series called More Desire, Oklahoma that basically revisits couples from the Desire, Oklahoma series that I will be reading as well. This will be fun.

Original Review
☆☆☆
Posted 6/7/2015
Jesse finally visits her sister and brother-in-law, but she is not the same woman they remember. Her bad marriage had a profound impact and now she is closed up tight. Jake and Nat are concerned so when Clay and Rio take an interest, Nat decides to help them out there by helping her sister.

I have to say if my version of Desire for Three were a paperback it would be dead and in need of being replaced so thank you to the tech gurus for e-readers and e-reading apps. You would think that reading a book once would be enough but nope not happening with this one. I really enjoy books that have more going on than just sex or just the boring blah-blah of talking heads. Now please don’t get me wrong the sex scenes were rocking the bed hot but there was more to this book than that despite the title. I mean who doesn’t love a little miscommunication, blood and guts violence with their book porn.

I really felt for Jesse and Kelly being abused, either by neglect, verbal or physical is no joke and I really like how this author gives Jesse the back bone to stand strong to help herself and her friend Kelly. I also really like how Jesse refused to be a victim of her circumstances, that takes courage, I know women who after so long just can’t escape being the victim and it breaks my heart to watch, even as they try put up that brave tough as nails persona for the outside world. I could really see the fight Jesse had with it, thankfully no one bought it.

There were no stand out quotes but my favorite part was when Jesse kicked the jerk holding her at knife point in the nuts, hot damn that was classic and well written. I do wish that there weren’t as many errors but maybe when Leah gets a chance, she will find them and fix them so I can change the rating that I am going to give Desire for Three.

Book Cover
The cover is rather naughty but then Desire for Three is rather naughty so there you have it. My only issue is that the female model does not fit the description of Jesse who is nearly forty and the mother of a grown son. It would be nice to have publishers actually create covers that fit the story lines.

Blurb Rating
The blurb is well written and is the reason I purchased Desire for Three in 2015.

Book’s Blurb
With her fortieth birthday approaching and a bad marriage behind her, Jessica Tyler wants a fresh start. Marriage left her an emotionless shell and she vows never to get involved with a man again. Giving in to her sister, Jesse agrees to visit her in Desire, Oklahoma. But Desire is a small town unlike any other. Dom/sub and menage relationships are the norm in a town where ranchers and cowboys adore and protect their women in ways that leave Jesse…fascinated. She’s first intrigued, then alarmed when two gorgeous over-protective brothers, Clay and Rio Erickson, rush to claim her for their own. Yanked from her protective shell, threatened by her ex, Jesse is determined to stay strong, even as her two formidable lovers are intent on possessing her. Will her independence be smothered or will love give her the strength to change all three of their lives forever?”
