Sweet Royal Beginnings would be a great teaching tool for why preconceived opinions are a waste of time and energy. A lesson that Mikal SuMartra seemed to struggle with based on the number of times he put his foot in mouth. He clearly is not the sharpest tool in the shed, I wasn’t sure if I should feel sorry for him or just laugh my ass off because once he gets past his preconceived notions on strippers he goes and sticks his foot in it again proving once again he is not the smartest student in the class.
I really liked the character of Jane, she does what she needs to do to work through life and takes pride in who she truly is and is not ashamed of it, and strong enough to say this is what she does to pay the bills but it is not who she is, refusing to let the preconceived ideology of others define her. I do think that she should have made Mikal grovel more and that she caved way to soon but hey, to each their own, it was still fun to read this story.
I thought that the book covered a lot of ground for being only 68 pages and with the added bonus of little to know errors making the story worth the time and energy it took to read it. I enjoyed reading Sweet Royal Beginnings but I am not entirely sure that the word ‘sweet’ actually fits in the title of this book.
Heat
There were a few bedroom scenes and the only one that was potentially, graphicly steamy was the first one, but it was also one
sided enough to be a bit mundanely done to death. The rest were mentioned but not elaborated on.

I like this quote because Jane is very clear about the difference between who she is and Mikal’s preconceived idea about who she is based on what she does to survive in the world.

I purchased Sweet Royal Beginnings back in 2015 and since then the cover has changed so I am adding the new cover to this review as well. I think the older cover is pretty bland and tamer then the new cover.
