I was given Desire the Night for and honest review by Manic Readers
Kiya (Kay) wishes she could be free of her pack obligations but her controlling father has plans to marry her off to a man even worse than him. She convinces her father to allow her a year of freedom away from the pack. When her friend convinces her to go out and live a little everything goes horribly wrong or wonderfully right depending of perspective.
The vampire Gideon has spent three years locked in silver chains and stashed dungeon after being tricked by an evil witch. The witch wants his blood to keep her young and it doesn’t hurt that it is making rich selling to her friends. When Kiya is tossed in the cell to be his next meal he quickly discovers she is no ordinary female and together they contrive a plan of escape.
But freedom for Kiya isn’t freedom at all, she is in-love with her vampire but her father, her betrothed, Victor, and the witch have other plans for the couple and every where they turn someone is there the taker her away and imprison him.
I have read two of Amanda Ashley’s other books and genuinely loved them (I have read them multiple times) so I was excited to read Desire the Night, only to be a bit disappointed that the story was just an ok read. I couldn’t get into the first two chapters, they were too slow but thankfully the further I read the better the story got. The characters are all well written and I could really sense Kiya’s mom’s unhappiness and but I think that the passion between Kiya and Gideon was a bit sedated although you could really see the bond forming between them. Will I ever read this book again? I kind of don’t think so because I just was bored through about thirty percent of it.
Book Blurb Rating
The blurb is what convinced me to read Desire the Night
Book’s Blurb
Held captive in a basement prison, wrapped in silver chains, the vampire Gideon is too weak to fight the monster who enslaves him. For years, she’s tapped his precious blood like a fountain of youth—sustaining him with human females she captures for his pleasure. But with the latest victim she brings him, he senses something intriguingly different. Something dangerous, yet oh so tempting. Kay Alissano is no ordinary woman. Every full moon, she must answer the call of the wild—unleashing the wolf within. As daughter of the Shadow Pack’s Alpha, Kay is extremely powerful—and when she’s offered up to Gideon, she doesn’t surrender easily. In wolf form, she might be able to unchain Gideon’s heart and set them both free—if only he can resist the urge to consume her, body and soul, before the next full moon .
