Promise Me, Cowboy (Carrigans of the Circle C #1 & The Copper Mountain Rodeo #3) by C. J. Carmichael

Heat Rating

If you are looking for a little old fashion romance this is just the book for you.

Dawson falls in love with Sage takes her to bed where his psycho wife, who he thought was divorcing him, find them and aims a shot gun at them and the rest goes downhill from there until he shows up five years later wanting a second chance. Personally I think Sage should have kicked him in the balls then kicked him to the curb. For some reason I was expecting a lot of steam but got an old fashion romance instead. The characters where larger than life and melted my heart and I look forward to reading the rest of the series and hope to hear more about the enigma that is Sage’s father.

I think it is interesting when I find a book that ties two series together, it will be interesting to see is the author was able to maintain the continuity of her character even as the evolve from story to story.

I would have giving this book five stars but I think it needs some more editing done. I found a sentence that I am sure was missing a word as it made no sense at all.

Sage Carrigan never meant to be the other woman. Unfortunately, bronco rider Dawson O’Dell neglected to mention he was married the night he invited her to his bed after they’d both placed first in their rodeo events. When his wife walked in on them – Sage was deeply hurt and humiliated.

After an accident in the ring the next day, Sage decides she’s quitting the rodeo–and cowboys—to become a chocolatier in her hometown ranching community, Marietta, Montana.

She’s doing just fine, but then Dawson shows up —five years later, with a little girl in tow. He’s here for the Copper Mountain Rodeo hoping to win big. But he’s also got plans of settling down with his daughter and buying a house—the very same one that Sage has been dreaming about.

He says he’s here for her and he’s making lots of promises. But can he keep them?

I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

Dani Carrigan has an amazing career in the study of child behavior and teaches Psychology. Her life is on track and she is in-love with her boss the widower. What more could she ask for? When her world is turned upside down because of an unplanned pregnancy, her best friend Elliot steps up to lend her support.

Adrian Carlson has been a widower for some time and when his bed buddy gets pregnant he flips a switch on her. He is willing to help support his child and nothing more. He was such a user.

Elliot Gilmore has been best friend with Dani for two years and that is all he ever wants from her or so he thought. When she gets pregnant by another man; he ends up re-evaluating his feelings.

I thought the story was well written and sweet. I really liked the characters for the most part, even if one or two of them needed to seriously be into smelling the coffee. I wish there had been a few hot moments between Dani and Elliot but I can’t always get what I want.

This book does need a little editing because I found sentences with missing words, repeated words and words left out all together. There weren’t enough edits to actually ruin the story but enough that they should be brought to attention.

The Cover is eye catching and was enough to make me look at the blurb which well worded but had one mis-spelled word again not enough of an editing issue to detract from the overall goal of enjoying this book.

The Carrigans of Circle C Series- Book 3
Dani Carrigan has always relied on logic when making important life decisions, but when she discovers she’s pregnant – and that there’s a chance her baby may be born “not perfect”— logic lets her down.

It would help if the baby’s father would pop the question, but widowed father Adrian seems more interested in protecting his six-year-old daughter than committing to his new relationship with Dani.

The last time she felt this alone and scared was when she was 16 and her mother died, leaving Dani to raise her younger sisters with precious little help from her distant and disapproving rancher father. She felt so inadequate then, but is she any more prepared to be a mother now?

Support comes from an unlikely source. Dani always saw her next-door neighbour and friend, divorce attorney Elliot Gilmore, as a charming, handsome, playboy-type. But with each challenge she faces, from pregnancy, to delivery and beyond—Elliot reveals himself a better man than she ever guessed.

Is it possible that Elliot hasn’t been playing the field—but waiting for her?
