I was given this book for and honest review by Manic Readers
Owen MacLaren is shocked find out that Clare is back in town and no one told him. He finds her working in a strip club while having a night out with the guys. Between protecting his pack from psycho rogues and trying to woo a woman who is resisting his charms, Owen has his work cut out for him.
Clare Walker loves dancing and Owen MacLaren although she wishes she didn’t love the later especially when memories of him are so painful. So, when he walks into the club she works at and makes a move and she is having a hard time fighting herself and her wolf to resist him.
The simple honest truth of the matter was I didn’t finish this book; I can’t even in good consciences count this book as read for my book challenge. I tried several times since receiving this book to complete it, I skipped pages but I was skipping so much that I hit the end of it before I knew it. I think a lot of it has to do with the story being told in the first-person perspective of the two main characters and those are not my favorite s. From what I did read I found the characters to be well written but I was turned off at the strip club. I didn’t find any editing errors; which was a nice change from the last few books I had read and shows that the author took the time and care to show her pride in her work. And I wish that this was my type of book so that I could do it justice in this review but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Book’s Cover Rating
I did like the cover but thought that since there are two shifters in this story that two wolves should be on it. But the cover did entice me to explore the book further.
Book’s Blurb Rating
The blurb could use a little editing but was otherwise and good selling point to again get me to explore the book further.
Book’s Blurb
Dealing with the Rogue Werewolves terrorizing his Pack? Simple.
Trying to convince his mate he does want to be with her? Bloody impossible.
Owen MacLaren is the Alpha’s son and the Pack’s second, and he has never been one to let anything get to him. So when a bunch of Rogues begin purposely dumping mutilated bodies around the Pack Keep, he is more than ready to deal with the Werewolves responsible.
But one night off and a trip to a local strip joint for a colleague’s stag night changes things, and Owen soon discovers he isn’t immune to everything . . . .
Being an independent Loup and travelling the world? Easy.
Having to come home and face the Werewolf who broke her young heart? Challenging.
After five years away, Clare Walker finds herself back home in Scotland, working in a strip club. The tips are decent, and she gets to dance, but it isn’t a place she thought she would ever be, let alone Owen, her Pack second and the mate she has always desired.
Although Owen is determined to prove he wants to be with Clare, things can’t go smoothly between them, not when they have past issues to sort out and a bunch of unusual ‘Rogues’ to deal with.
