I loved the story line, with the psycho mom and the dumbass biker wolf who jumps to conclusions about his own mate without ever discussing it with her. It’s a dark story with some attempted abductions and a lot of smart mouth comments to lighten things up a bit.
What I didn’t like was the fact that Breezy didn’t make Xan grovel and wait after all the crap he spouted about her being a whore. She just caved the minute he decided to take an interest in his mate.
I have never read an Elle Boon book before and I am not sure if I want to read another one or not. The overall story is well written with a good flow and few to no edits and the story line is pretty cool. Granted I don’t like how fast Breezy submitted to Xan but that is the only part I think is flawed and I don’t think that should be reflected in the over all rating which why I am giving Xan’s Feisty Mate a 4-star rating.
Even though I don’t like that Breezy just into bed like a whore that Xan believed her to be I can deny that the bedrooms scenes are pretty darn steamy.
“No, and no you can’t see my junk. You’ll get all jealous and need someone to feed your ego and tell you yours is big, too.”—Xan
This why I think Breezy should make him beg to be her mate since he has been a pretty lousy one for the last year or so.
“I can smell your desire and hesitation. What’s wrong? Haven’t any of your many other lovers ever played with you before?”—Xan
I am impressed with the cover, it actually matches the story line, which is refreshing.
I am not sure why the first part of the blurb was put into all cans and bold type. I do like the subsequent paragraphs more they were the sole reason for my picking this story.
A FEMALE SHIFTER LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE. THE ALPHA WITH AN ATTITUDE. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SOMEONE THREATENS THE WOMAN HE KNOWS IS HIS? HE’LL TEAR THE WORLD APART TO PROTECT HER!
Breezy has loved Xan Carmichael for years, but she’s tired of trying to get him to notice her. She’s suffered for years, and is ready to move on.
Xan didn’t want a mate, but when someone tries to harm the only woman who calls to him and his wolf, he’s ready to rip the world apart to keep her safe.
The past has a way of coming back and haunting your present, and Breezy has just become the focus of a deranged killer. Will Xan and the rest of the Iron Wolves be able to save her, before whoever is out to end her life succeeds? Or will the stubborn alpha claim her in time?
