Summer’s Alpha Dad traded her sister for an alliance, to an asshole Alpha that beats her. Now her dad has the same plans for Summer. Summer, an Alpha in her own right has other plans for herself and the do not include being her father’s bargaining chip. Summer plans to run and live her life on her terms, even if it is without Jackson, the man of her dream, because her dad has told her he plans on her youngers sister to mate with him. I think that before Summer hit’s the road she needs to give him hell for being a craptastic dad since his mate died but then again that would change the whole story, maybe. Doesn’t matter either way because she does eventually give him hell, girls hated being dictated.

There are a couple of boring points in the story but nothing that lasts longer than a chapter if that and I really like Summer and her younger sister but I am not a huge fan of the older sister. Jackson is okay but not super smart if he didn’t catch on to Summer’s plan when she was telling him about her father’s plans for them, especially given that they were best friends since they were very young.

I am really not a big fan of first-person story lines usually but then again, I guess it depends on the book and the author. I must really like Summer’s Alpha because I have read it enough times (6 or 7 times) and I did give the story a 4-star rating which I should maybe reconsider with the number of times I have read Summer’s Alpha. It helps that there really are not a lot of editing issue to bring the rating down or impact the story line.

Original Rating  ☆☆☆☆

Normally try to avoid books that have a first-person point of view but I am glad I read this one. I think it was awesome that Summer fought for herself and earned her father’s respect and that he saw the error of his ways.

Heat Rating
For those of you who like a little porn with your story line you will be happy to know there is a spanking somewhere in the storyline of Summer’s Alpha. Overall though, there weren’t any ‘where the hell is a cold shower so I can finish this book’ hot moments but I would say the sex scenes were respectably worth reading.

Book’s Blurb
Summer has wanted one thing her whole life and that’s Jackson but he doesn’t feel the same. Her father the alpha has decided that Jackson will mate with Summer’s sister Autumn but a worse match was never made as far as Summer is concerned. He has also decided that Summer will make for good bait to draw in another pack as an alliance. She cannot stay and watch her sister and Jackson mate and she refuses to give up her happiness for the good of the pack. Summer sets out on her own to find her own life and a mate for herself. She stumbles into a new territory and a new pack that needs an alpha. Jackson is alpha, but should she call him and give up her location and possibly her freedom? Can she live with him so close but oh so far again? If only he felt the same way about her.

The Alpha’s She-Wolf by K. S. Martin

The Alpha’s She-Wolf is actually about two sisters who find their mates but only one of the sisters is at the for front of the story while the other is more of a back-ground character.

I apologize for taking so long to get this review written, it seems I was attacked with a case of writer’s block and have been painfully fighting my way through it to get this far into this review.

The story line for the most part was interesting and I enjoyed most of it. The romance between Shauna and Connor was most entertaining. I also enjoyed the twist that came with Naomi and one of Connor’s brothers. I wasn’t too crazy about the twist with Victor, it seemed like it was thrown in at the last minute to add extra drama and reading material. Maybe if Victor had been glimpsed earlier causing trouble then maybe it would felt like it meshed better with the story line. Especially as he seemed to already be clued into Shauna and Naomi’s family tree and heritage. With these thoughts on The Alpha’s She-Wolf have me thinking a three-star rating would be a appropriate for that but then I count the edits which brings me to that part where I argue with myself (yet again) about creating a separate rating for the edits a lone which brings me to considering and overall rating for all those things. Sometimes this argument with myself makes me nuts. Ok, sorry back to the edits; the most popular editing issues in this book were missing quote marks and missing words. For those and the other edits that I found the three-star, review I would love to give this book, will actually be a one-star review.

K. S. Martin if you happen to read this review I want you to know that it truly pains me to give you a one-star review as you are one of my favorite writers.

Book Cover Rating
The title of this book is The Alpha’s She-Wolf so it feels like there is something missing from this cover and it really doesn’t feel like it fits the book.

Book’s Blurb
Sexy dreams have disturbed Shauna for months now and they are always the same. A man that she can’t see has his arms around her and that leads to other things that keep her from sleep. She’s tired of waiting for him to show up and she’s exhausted from his nightly visits. When he finally does, it is not how she expected and she is more than a little disappointed in his tactics.

He’s finally found her, his mate, and she is nothing like she was in his dreams, only her scent is the same. It should be easy, this mating but she is proving to be more of a challenge than Connor anticipated.

Can they find their way to each other? Or will her expectations destroy what nature intended?

Tina’s parents gave her their bakery and house for graduation instead of a trip to Europe like she wanted. Tina, with the help of her boyfriend Luca have expanded on her parent’s business. Now she is just waiting for Luca to get more serious about their future together, that is, until her high school tormentor moves into one of the apartments above the bakery.

Mac has just returned home just in time to replace his brother as Alpha and to discover his mate, who hates him for what he did to her in high school. When Tina accuses him of stealing from her he is determined to find the culprit and win her heart.

Since losing my youngest daughter last July I have found myself going back to reading my favorites book or books from my favorites authors, kind of like comfort food, which is why I am reviewing The New Alpha again.

I love that The New Alpha is a sweet story that gets steamier as it progresses rather than rushes the whole romance into a two-day courtship making it a more plausible story line. Although, I find it hard to believe that Tina is totally blind to Luca’s batting for the same team and is not really into her. Then of course there is the fact that Mac knows the truth about Luca but put’s the breaks on anyway when he discovers what is up with Luca and Tina. Then of course there are the insane number of edits that need to be done in this book that seriously make it impossible to give this book a five-star rating (that I want to give it) or any rating for that matter really because with the number of edits I find it should be a minus one-start review instead of the one-star I am giving it.

Given all that one would ask why I really like this book so much, besides the earlier mentions plausible story line. I like how well written Tina and Mac’s characters are and how much of their back history was included added depths to each character. There were a number of funny moments and a couple that make me want to cry but it’s the funny, happy moments that make this story worth reading even with all the editing that needs to happen.

Quotes

“My father was a traditional baker and believed in a traditional bakery. There was no display case with the treats or the coffees. My dad says it’s the fancy education that his boring bakery paid for and that in thirty years, the coffee might pay for the college.” —Tina

“Gross. You guys keep your conquests to yourselves, these are my sisters in law, and I don’t want to know any of this. If they’re random that’s one thing but not women I know, okay?” —Eric

Original Review
The is a really sweet romance that starts out a little slow but sure does pick up momentum along the way as things start get hot between Mac and Tina.

I think that the author could have maybe added a little more about Luca’s true motives and evilness early on other than giving hints that things weren’t right between him and Tina.

Also as a big Gone With Wind fan I absolutely love Tina’s middle and last name lol that was great at the wedding.

Book’s Blurb
Tina is a successful bakery owner and is happy with her current boyfriend until her new tenant shows up. He’s a blast from her past and not in a good way.

Tina crushed on him all through school even though he tormented her and stood her up for prom. Why is he so appealing again especially since he is an arrogant jerk?

Mac is an alpha that recently moved back into the area after his pack dissolved. He recognizes his mate as the woman he bullied from grade school to graduation. Can he convince her that he’s not the same jerk from so long ago? Or will he be left without a mate because of the mistakes he made before he was an alpha?

Jordan and Colette have loved each other since they were teenagers but somewhere along the line their relationship fell apart. Now she fills alone and unwanted by him and by the pack. He is finally Alpha and he wants his mate back by his side and in his bed. But he is going to have to fight hard to win her heart back and when an attack on Colette leaves her broken, he realizes he may have very well of lost his chance

I have read this book three times and every time I get all teary eyed when Colette confronts Jordan on his misdeeds, it so sad. I think my favorite part is when she scrounges up her courage and lambastes the pack for wanting Jordan to step down.

The bedroom scenes aren’t steamy but they are sweet and tender and do deserve the heat rating they will get.

With Once Mated Twice Shy being one of my favorite books it saddens me greatly to give it less than four or five stars but with the number of editing errors, I must give it a two-star rating.

Book Cover Rating
Doesn’t really fit Once Mated Twice Shy’s story line in anyway

Book’s Blurb
Colette mated Jordan Giroux when she was fifteen years old. Their parents thought that it was a good idea not to stop them and decided it would calm them both down. At the time, they were both running wild. They were so in love that it was legendary. Since he got it into his head that he wanted to be the Summerville Pack Alpha they’ve grown apart. When he rejects her it seems that the pack is more important to him. Will he figure out that she’s worth it? A bigger question is can she forgive him for making the pack more important than her. The two wolves that loved bigger than any in the pack must find their way back to each other because neither is whole without the other.

I only gave this book two stars I had a hard time staying with it and finishing. I was so slow moving and I just wanted to get it done. Plot was pretty good but the story itself was slow and boring.

I am sorry as I really like all the other books from this author that I have read.

Maybe if I read it again on the future it will be better on the second pass.

Book Cover Rating  ☆☆☆

I wonder why Rae’s father never consider introducing her to her half-sister to give them a chance to know each other that was just one hole in the story that I would have liked to have seen filed but other than that I really like this book after all this is the second time I have read this book.

Book’s Blurb
Rae is cast into a world of weirdness when her half sister is suddenly killed. She is told that she is to carry on the family bloodline of werewolf alpha, choose a mate and change into a werewolf all in one day. Rae is worried that she is losing her mind with all of the sudden weirdness but her father, the current alpha is not giving her any choice. Rae only hopes that she comes out of it sane and alive.
