When Alex’s father decides to marry one of their employees from accounting, he is livid. He refuses to have anything to do with his new gold digging step-mother and demands that his father has her sign a pre-nuptial agreement. For months he avoids any contact with his father’s wife and her child, a rather chubby young girl. When he finally consents to a family brunch he discovers that his opinions of Elynn were flawed and he wants to know her better and that makes his like a bit of a perv after all she is only seventeen and add to add to that she is recovering from a huge trauma thanks to a stalker. Five years later Elynn is about to graduate college and when he mistakes a scene he witnesses with one of her best friends he decides he needs to make his move before another man swoops in and takes what’s his.

As a rule, I am not a big fan of these so called taboo books about step siblings, because it is not really a taboo since there is NO blood relation to connect them, except to maybe the anal retentive morons of the world. That being said, the blurb was rather vague but still managed to pull me in so here we are with a book that starts out very sweet and turns steamy about half way through. I really like Elynn’s character, there author did a great job of sticking to after effects of the trauma that she suffered and how it defined Elynn’s life. What I didn’t like was how they mentioned her stalker but that he was fleeting until the end, I wish he been more of a threat throughout the story because through the whole story the stalker was more of a peripheral cause not an ongoing issue until he came out of left field. In other words, if he was a continuing threat then perhaps his part should have been bigger than phone calls and flowers.

Book Blurb Rating
The blurb gave me the impression that this story would be told more from the male perspective which is what had me purchasing this book, since few stories are told strictly from the male view point and it would be a nice change of pace but alas this was told from the both sides.

Book’s Blurb
For almost five years, Alex has had one obsession. Her name is Elynn.

Alex Hanas couldn’t believe that after so many years as a widower, his father was getting remarried. To make matters worse, the American gold digger had a kid—a daughter named Elynn. After months of avoiding it, Alex goes to brunch with every intention of giving his father’s new family the deep freeze. But he can’t pull it off with Elynn’s anxious green-grey eyes locked on him.

That was the day his life changed.

Four years later, Alex is as close to Elynn as a stepbrother can be. But that’s not enough for him. He wants more…and he’s done waiting.
