Shaya found her mate at her best friend, Taryn’s, mating ceremony and she waits all night for him to claim her. She is devastated when he leaves the celebration without even saying a word. She knows that being a submissive wolf is a problem for him since he is an Alpha but he could have at least talked to her about it but instead he makes her life miserable. He doesn’t want her but makes it clear no one else can have her. Hurt and tired from the constant rejection she leaves her pack with a plan that keep Nick from finding her even though she is sure he won’t even try.

Nick can’t believe Shaya ran from him and although her pack won’t tell him her where she is, he will find her and when he does she will never run again. That is once he convinces her he is in it for the forever and not just to make her life miserable.

I have to say the out of the whole series I think that Shaya is my favorite character because she maybe a submissive but she has the heart and courage of an Alpha. As for Nick, I know his heart was in the right place and the he really wants his mate but he should never have put her through all that emotional torture to begin with so he deserved the baseball bat to the head. The character that you love to hate in Carnal Secrets is Amber and boy will you hate the two faced bitch from hell, who should have her healer’s license revoked.

The bedroom scenes were not I steamy or detailed as I expected them to be with Nick being an Alpha male but there was definitely some ‘rockin’ don’t come a nockin’ moments they just didn’t leave me wanting a cold shower.

I really loved Carnal Secrets story line and sub plots, it made for a very busy as well as entertaining read so I really think this particular book in the series is officially my absolute favorite for the series. I also think it deserves the five star rating it will get.

Favorite Quotes

“I’m not pissed at you—although I’ve visualized you sliding down a barbed-wire banister a couple of times.”—Shaya

“Claim me? Now there’s a fucking joke. I’d rather French kiss a goddamn barracuda than mate with you!”—Shaya

I look forward to reading Dark Instincts, the 4th book in the series…

Book’s Blurb
A pack Alpha and his estranged, true mate wrestle with painful secrets, ruthless enemies, and their own irresistible attraction, in the sexy third book of the Phoenix Pack series.

Half-shifter Shaya Critchley may hold a submissive role in her pack, but she’s done taking orders. After her Alpha wolf mate refused to claim her—but committed to interfering in her life—she took off. Now she hides from him, posing as a human in a town full of anti-shifter extremist groups. She thinks he’ll never find her again, and that suits her just fine. But she’s wrong.

Nick Axton can barely control his feelings for Shaya, but he could never claim her—not if he truly cares for her. The degenerative brain condition he keeps secret would ultimately leave her with a burden rather than a mate. But when Shaya runs away, Nick can’t bear the thought of never seeing her again. After tracking her down, he discovers Shaya’s feisty and passionate side in the process…a side he’d never seen before.

Under the menacing gazes of territorial local packs and violent human extremists, Nick vows to finally claim the spirited Shaya…and despite her initial resistance, Shaya just might find his fiery determination to be the ultimate aphrodisiac.

Jaime had to cage her wolf, because the trauma her wolf sustained, to protect both her and her wolf. But in caging her wolf she had made her a danger to others. She has also buried her alpha abilities, making everyone believe she is submissive. So when her crush on Dante proves futile she figures she and everyone around her are better off if she cuts her loses and moves on from it. Only Dante decides he doesn’t like that Jaime has given up on him and his ego and wolf demands he gets her attention back on him even if it does break his rules about relationships and pack members.

This is my second reading of this book and my second review of this book. I am really glad I get to rewrite this review cause man the first one kind of sucked, because all I did really was mention what someone else had mentioned in a review they wrote then argued against it. I do still stand by my assessment in that regard but I never really mentioned anything that I personally liked about this book.

Jaime is so awesome and I truly admire how hard she fought to stay in control of her wolf, I thought it her will to protect those around her was well portrayed. I also noticed that with Dante and Jaime there was more of an emotional roller coaster ride and fewer laughing moments than there was in Trey and Taryn’s story. The bedroom scenes that Dante and Jaime shared were had to be rocking Bedrock, because, wow, can Suzanne Wright write a bedroom scene holy moly.

I really started to like Dante a whole better after he pulled his head out of his back side and really started thinking about how his actions affected Jaime, but I got to tell you I was a bit surprised that it took him 15 minutes to realize that the woman he was in a relationship with was gone, when his ex that he supposedly felt nothing for was hanging all over him, I mean really, the guy would have been I am surprised Jaime didn’t feed him his nuts before she walked away. Would have served him right if she had left and stayed with one of her friends for a few days just to let him stew in his own shit for a few days.

Quotes
Although I really like Dominic’s corny pickup lines I have to say Jaime had a couple of really awesome funny quotes that MUST be shared.

“unless you get off on watching, you might want to scamper. As you can probably tell, we’re both hot and horny, and Dante’s about to Google my Yahoo and Twitter my cli—”—Jaime

I have always been a fan of Scooby Doo cartons so when I read this line, I had to add it to the favorite quotes.
“How about some role play? You can be Fred, I’ll be Daphne, and we’ll pretend Marcus is the Lake Monster coming to get us. What, too soon?”—Jaime

Original Review
I really did like this book. In one review that I read it said that Jaime was very much like Taryn from the first book and I can see the similarities but they aren’t the same. The similarities come from the fact that they are both alpha females where as a submissive wolf would have certain traits so I think that Suzanne stayed true to her general characterization of the alpha female as well giving them their own personalities to go with those common traits. I did feel that the book was a little slow in spots but then what be the fun in reading Wicked Cravings if it didn’t have a few relax and get comfortable moments between the action 🙂

Book’s Blurb
For years, wolf shifter Jaime Farrow has harbored a not-so-secret crush on gorgeous Dante Garcea. But the time has come for Jaime to face facts: despite her best efforts, Dante just isn’t interested. And that’s probably for the best. The last thing Jaime needs is for anyone—particularly Dante—to find out about her little “problem.” The one that haunts her past and threatens to destroy her and everyone she loves…

As the pack Beta, workaholic Dante Garcea doesn’t have time for distractions—especially the kind promised by Jaime Farrow. It’s all he can do to keep her at arm’s length and his desire at bay. Yet when her flirtations abruptly end, Dante becomes suspicious. She’s hiding something, something big, and unless he can convince her to trust him, their entire pack could be in danger. He knows hot-headed Jaime will resist him…but Dante never takes no for an answer.

Taryn has a big problem, her father, the Alpha, has decided she must mate Roscoe. Roscoe is the Alpha of another pack and her father wants the alliance with him bad enough to sell his daughter for it and he doesn’t care about Roscoe’s abusive reputation when it comes to women. As far as her father is concerned, she has two strikes against her, she is female and latent and her only real value is her healer ability. So far all of Taryn’s solutions to her problem have holes in them; her best solution if she can contact him is to take refuge with her Uncle’s Pack but that will only work if his Alpha is agreeable.

Trey’s father has finally died but his uncle has taken over his old pack and now wants Trey’s pack and is determined to do whatever he has to. Trey knows he needs alliances and fast and what better way than to mate the daughter of a wolf that has several alliances. So, he kidnaps Taryn and makes her a deal that is not only crazy but just may work.

With mating now done and the fireworks happening in the bedroom they fight each other and themselves to avoid imprinting but the addiction to each other makes that hard. With their Beta sitting back and dropping hints because he knows they are true mates and them messing it up at every turn it will be any wonder they finally figure it out.

I love Feral Sins, the characters are amazing and Taryn is my hero, that woman could give me lessons in swearing and being a smart ass because she puts me to shame. And then there is Greta, the grandma from hell that we all know really does like Taryn, but likes to stir up shit. Trey and his pack really can be a handful and I really got into all the escapades, there was Dominic with his cheesy sex lines and Tao who went from not liking Taryn to crushing on her. Dante and his all-knowing smirk and then Marcus and Trick now that was a surprise and always is even after reading this book so many times.

I have read this book a number of time and will read it many more times I am sure, because it has an emotional roller coaster, fights and is a laugh a minute, what more could girl ask for in a great book.

Quotes
I have so many favorite quotes in Feral Sins that I really had a very hard time choosing, especially since several of them will undoubtedly get me censors somewhere but hey who cares you only live once and I manage to narrow the choice down to four but can only add two or three.

“Poor girl looks like she had a fight with a vampire. Oh, and you, Taryn. Damn, you can curse. What did she call you at one point, Trey? Oh, that was it. A motherfucking, ass-licking son of a cocksucking goddamn bitch.”—Dante

“No, she’s right. My behavior has been truly unacceptable. Accept my apologies, Ms. Tyler. I know I really should have more respect for the dead.”—Taryn

“I’d rather lie under an elephant suffering from diarrhea with my mouth open wide.”—Taryn

Book Blurb
Amazon had one blurb and Goodreads had another and the one below in my estimations is best one.

Book’s Blurb
If your inner wolf and your body react rather enthusiastically to a psychotic Alpha male who’s own wolf has a tendency to turn feral, it can’t be a good thing, can it? Entering into a bargain with him wouldn’t be good either. Unfortunately, Taryn Warner, a latent wolf shifter, doesn’t have many options open to her right now. Okay, she has no options. Basically it comes down to whether she’ll do what it takes to escape the arranged mating with the sick SOB that her father set up. As the answer in this case is yes, it looks as though she’ll have to agree to Trey Coleman’s deal…she’ll have to mate with him instead.

Having always disliked shifter politics, Trey Coleman hadn’t bothered trying to form alliances with other packs. Now that his uncle – a wolf with many alliances – means to take Trey’s territory and his pack, he has no option but to form some alliances of his own very quickly or he’ll be easily outnumbered in the upcoming battle. He figures that the easiest way to do that would be to mate with a female whose Alpha is powerful and influential. There’s only one problem with that – he would then be stuck with her, and the last thing Trey wants is a mate. When he hears of Taryn’s situation, he offers her a deal – if she falsely claims he’s her true mate and allows him to claim her, he’ll save her from her arranged mating and then let her leave after the battle with his uncle is over.

Sounds like a pretty straightforward deal…but soon Taryn and Trey realize they got more than they bargained for. Their mating instincts to protect and possess are weighing on them, they crave each other’s touch and company, and their inner wolves don’t like it whenever they’re apart. Add in that they’ll have to deal with this for an entire three months until the day of the battle finally arrives, and they’ve got themselves a recipe for disaster – or maybe for something quite the opposite.
